We are the proud owners of an ecofan! We are basking in the radiant heatwaves of this neat invention even as I speak, while outside the wind is blowing itself up into a frenzy. The small fan sits at the back of the woodburner, and when its base is warm enough the propellers start moving. As they turn they push the warm air away from the woodburner and out into the room. We know that warm air rises, so the ecofan reduces the amount of heat lost to the chimney and we benefit from its displacement into the living room. So if any of you have a woodburner and are thinking about maximising its efficiency I would seriously look into getting one of these.
